Professional Experience

Boys & Girls Clubs of Marion County, Ocala, FL

Health & Wellness Coordinator/Communications

February 2018 – April 2020

Managed the Marion County Hospital District Grant programs and reporting, maintained relationships with donors, sponsors and community partners, designed the monthly newsletter, served on event committees, developed and implemented programs for three sites, and provided direct client support when necessary.

In my position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marion County, I discovered my desire to work with underprivileged families and make a positive impact on future generations. While working there, I focused on developing and implementing programs that taught members and their families how to purchase healthy snacks, grow and cook their own foods, and access community services that promote health and wellbeing.

I also advanced my communication skills in a role that allowed me to create newsletters, flyers, and build a web presence for the three clubs in the county.

Please take a moment to review my work listed below, including examples of projects, events, and communications material.

Florida Local Exchange, Ocala, FL

Owner

November 2015 – January 2018

Created an aggregation and distribution system for local foods and products, and oversaw all aspects of the business including: accounting, purchasing, marketing and advertising, social media platform management, leading part-time staff, maintaining farm partner relationships, securing vendors, and ensuring customers satisfaction. Developed and hosted farm-to-table events both on and off-site.

Owning this business taught me so much. After a few years, and a few bad business partners, and a few name changes, I had finally found my nitch in the local food world. Unfortunately, the cost of the experience had taken its toll and I could no longer afford to keep the store open. In January of 2018, I decided to close and take my lessons and move forward. It was an extremely difficult decision to make and it took me some time to recover, both financially and emotionally. However, the time I spent as the owner of Florida Local Exchange was a period in my life when I learned how to take what was once just an idea and turn it into a reality.

Below you will find posts that give examples of the type of work I did.
