On September 23, 2022 I embarked on my first Voyage to the Caverns, along with my festival buddy, Amanda. For the next three days, we experienced music and lights like we had never experienced them before. This is the second Voyage Festival presented by Clozee and Odyzey Music and this team did not disappoint!
Camp sites were plentiful, and I arrived from Kentucky Thursday afternoon with my truck and travel trailer. I picked a random spot in the field and got set up. Amanda drove up separately that evening from Florida and was easily able to park right next to my camper. There are currently no power or water hookups however, generators are allowed, which helps. Although it got a little chilly at night, many people pitched tents and from what I heard, conditions were good, and the food offered was delicious and not overpriced.
Besides Clozee throwing down ALL 3 NIGHTS some of the artist highlights for me were A Hundred Drums, Daily Bread, Frameworks, Jason Leech, and 9 Theory. Several art vendors were set up at both the outdoor stage and the entrance of the cavern.
My only complaints about the venue are the distance from the campsites to the entrance of the path through the woods that led to the cavern and the fact that a curfew is not enforced. I realize it’s a music festival but some of us absolutely have to get at least a couple hours of sleep to go strong all weekend. Hearing bass 24/7 made it very difficult to shut down at the end of the night. I’m not saying everyone has to go to bed…but some of us do.
The coolest part? The venue! If you watched the video above, I'm sure you can begin to imagine what it actually sounds like in The Caverns. I could actually feel the music flowing through my bloodstream. And besides that, the lights! They were everywhere! A bad ass light show paired with incredibly talented musicians, in an intimate setting is nothing short of magical!
Please check out The Caverns for information about upcoming shows, cave tours, kids camps, and a little history of how this subterranean music venue came to be a world-renowned live music destination.
I'll be sure to let y'all know as soon as 2023 dates are announced!
